Contemporary, new, experimental music – it’s hard to pick a single, definitive name for this phenomenon, let alone delineate its genre boundaries. Do we need such divisions in the world of streaming platforms and musical omnivores? Do activities at the boundary of various fields of music boost creativity or rather blur their identities? In what ways are composers inspired by pop music and can these inspirations flow in the opposite direction too? Is being active in a niche anything wrong?

At the meeting being a part of the Zone of Movement series, we want to talk about how we function in various musical circuits, about mutual inspirations and crossovers. The conversation will be moderated by Krzysztof Stefański (Ruch Muzyczny). The panelists will be Piotr Damasiewicz, Katarzyna Dziewiątkowskia, Marta Konieczna and Paweł Malinowski. Who knows if all the above questions will be asked? More importantly, who knows if answers will be found? Surely the noteworthy and diverse perspectives of the panelists will introduce many valuable threads into the conversation. The meeting will be held in Polish.
