The emancipation of the accordion as a concert instrument is one of the most interesting and surprising phenomena in Polish music at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. The achievements of Polish composers and performers mean that this instrument is less and less associated only with music performed among friends. The Thursday concert of the Wrocław-Łódź series 71/42 will perfectly fit into the trend of exploring its rich possibilities. During the mini recital, the young generation accordionist Aleksander Stachowski will present pieces composed by Michał Moc and Olga Hans.
Both composers are known for their particular sensitivity to emotions. Michał Moc, based in Wrocław, is a composer who has mastered the use of the language of new music in its accordion version. His monographic album Emotion from 2011, released by Dux, includes two works for this instrument. They were recorded by the composer, as he is also a concert accordionist. And the author of the next piece that Aleksander Stachowski will play – composer Olga Hans – became famous several years ago when she wrote the Cello Concerto for the right hand for Dominik Połoński. The work then led to her collaboration with the famous Scottish percussionist Evelyn Glennie. Hailing from Pabianice, Olga Hans works at the Academy of Music in Łódź. Her Dark and Gray Eyewitnesses was premiered in 2023 at the Krakow Accordion Festival.
Soloist Aleksander Stachowski is a graduate of the same university and has been working there as an assistant for five years. He is a laureate of many national and international competitions and has received several scholarships from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. He has participated in master classes conducted by many renowned accordionists. Giving concerts since the age of nine, he has already performed in Belgium, France, Germany, Serbia, Slovenia, Lithuania, and Ukraine.
