The final concert of this year’s NFM Orchestra Academy will be conducted by Anna Sułkowska-Migoń, a valued conductor of the young generation, winner of the Paris competition La Maestra. Under her baton, the musicians will perform works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Jongen and the legendary composer of film music, John Williams.

The evening will begin with the sounds of the masterpiece of operatic literature, the Don Giovanni Overture. One of Mozart’s most important compositions, belonging to the canon of the greatest works in the history of opera music in general, will precede a work by the Belgian composer Joseph Jongen. This artist was active not only as a composer, but also as an excellent organist, whose playing enriched, among others, religious ceremonies in the church of St James in Liège. His output includes the Symphonie concertante op. 81 – a work written in the 1920s for organ with orchestral accompaniment. The symphony, consisting of four extended movements and crowned with an impressive toccata, delights with the fullness of the sound of both the organ and the equally engaging part of the symphony orchestra, which wonderfully complements the organ sounds. The piece is considered one of the greatest organ works of the 20th century. Adam Tański will perform as a soloist.

It's hard to imagine Steven Spielberg’s Jaws without a theme that opens with insistent bass lines, or George Lucas’s Star Wars without the Imperial March. These soundtracks were written by the legendary composer of film music John Williams. Although the artist turned ninety last year, and has won over thirty different awards, including Grammys and five Oscars, he does not seem to plan to say goodbye to the stage and the film industry. The musicians will perform: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Suite, Jurassic Park Theme and Tribute to the Film Composer.
