The first Family Concert in the new season will be devoted to the biggest instruments in the world. The pipe organ is one of the most remarkable inventions ever created. We can admire its sound qualities not only in churches, but also in the beautiful interiors of concert halls all over the world.
The modern instrument in the Main Hall of the National Forum of Music, is equipped with a portable playing table. Thanks to this, we will be able to take a closer look at the work that the musician does during the concert. At the meeting, we will learn how the organ work and what elements it is made of. We will hear the power of sound and the colour possibilities of this instrument. We will discover what makes the organ imitate specific instruments or their groups, how many pipes this instrument consists of and how many meters is the longest and how many millimeters the shortest pipe. The talk will be accompanied by a multimedia projection.
Only a symphony orchestra or a group of percussion instruments can match the powerful sound and colourfulness of the organ. The percussion family will be an equal partner of the organ during this concert. Percussive instruments, known in all the cultures of our planet, are basically impossible to count, and their tonal colours are unrivaled. The sizes of the instruments differ widely - from small and easy to handle, to marimbas, timpani, tom-toms and gongs that can be several metres in diameter.
We invite you to a concert at the National Forum of Music, during which you will hear excellent works of music of the 20th and 21st centuries, written for solo organ as well as for organ and ensemble of percussive instruments.
